Why should I upgrade to Release 3?

RANT XL Release 3 is the result of a year's hard work by Steve Oddy. Previous versions of RANT were written using a 1996 vintage programming language which had become increasingly unsuited to the later versions of MS Windows; the time had come to move to an up-to-date language and so the complete package has been moved to Turbo Delphi. This has involved exchanging old and sometimes flakey 3rd-party add-ons for integrated programming units. The benefits of this move to the user are a more reliable program, improved picture handling allowing widespread use of jpg format files, better icons and full Vista compatibility including the implementation of the HTML Help system. As well as this, many program enhancements have been incorporated including better looking instruments using anti-alias techniques, additional tutorials and exercises, a more capable flight planner, a fully automatic met situation viewer and, of course, new libraries of Aerad plates and charts.

Please Note: There is no upgrade path for owners of earlier versions of RANT (RANT 3, RANT 2000, RANT XL original) or Precision Pilot.
